It has been a busy holiday season and we've been really lucky to spend time with freinds and family over the past few weeks. I'm eager to get all the decorations packed up, new gifts in their propper place and have the dust settle in general.Ah, a fresh start for the new year is easier said than done.
Above is an awsome bread pudding I makde with eggnog. The recipe called for leftover cinnamon rolls instead but that wes just too far on my wicked meter so I opted for whole wheat. Yummers!

Ballerina dress up is pretty popular around here these days. While (greatfully) exchanging a slightly vampy little girls outfit at the GAP yesterday I came across these. It's like a tutu and leggings in one, perfect! Now the little one can wear them all winter long and not freeze, I love it. I'm going to pick up another pair for next year too. It's funny so many of the outfits there were reminisent of Cindy Lauper in the '80s. Cracked me up. I feel old but really, enough with the '80s styling already!
We're trying to keep Christmas gift giving simple with the kids this year. Just one present each. But I like their gifts to be something that will last and be played with dearly for years to come. When I was trying to think of what to get the wee baby I just kept coming back to what has been so important for her older sister, dolls. The imaginative posibilities are endless and I love hearing the stories she comes up with and watching her build elaborate scenes for them. And then there are the beautiful quiet moments all cuddled up with a soft little dolly that is all yours, fast asleep. Every little girl should have a dolly that she treasures. These are some of my favorites from Blabla Kids, warm, modern and wholesome.
How may hours have I spent dressing dolls, over and over and over again? It used to be tedious but it's surprisingly soothing now.
Rocker kids, cool right? This makes me wish I had a boy just because of the mohawk. And yes, I will let my girls dye their hair pink when they ask to.

I saw these adorable photo print pillows a while back, and filed them in my "that-would-be-a-good-project" mental notebook. So the other day I snapped a photo of the cat, tweaked the color in PhotoShop, printed it out on photo transfer paper and ironed it on, then sewed it to a piece of flanel and stuffed him up like a nice little pillow. I think it's totally cute and completely less maintnenace than the real thing. Now I've just got to get a shot of the other cat while she's not hiding in the closet or running away from a child. The Chickpea is going to love finding this under the tree. They'd make great gifts for chidren's birthdays etc. I've even seen them as dolls made up from photos of family members.

I've been keeping an eye out for some floor poofs and these are amazing, hand knit and super chunky! I can see the girls rolling around on the floor with them and using them as building materials for forts.
